Multiband Superconductivity in the Chevrel Phases

چکیده
Sub-Kelvin scanning tunneling spectroscopy in the Chevrel phases SnMo6S8 and PbMo6S8 reveals two distinct superconducting gaps with Δ1=3 meV, Δ2∼1.0 meV and Δ1=3.1 meV, Δ2∼1.4 meV, respectively. The gap distribution is strongly anisotropic, with Δ2 predominantly seen when scanning across unit-cell steps on the (001) sample surface. The spectra are well fitted by an anisotropic two-band BCS s-wave gap function. Our spectroscopic data are confirmed by electronic heat capacity measurements, which also provide evidence for a

متن کاملTwo distinct superconducting phases in LiFeAs
A non-trivial temperature evolution of superconductivity including a temperature-induced phase transition between two superconducting phases or even a time-reversal symmetry breaking order parameter is in principle expected in multiband superconductors such as iron-pnictides. Here we present scanning tunnelling spectroscopy data of LiFeAs which reveal two distinct superconducting phases: at = 1...
متن کاملHeat conduction in the vortex state of NbSe2: evidence for multiband superconductivity.
The thermal conductivity kappa of the layered s-wave superconductor NbSe2 was measured down to T(c)/100 throughout the vortex state. With increasing field, we identify two regimes: one with localized states at fields very near H(c1) and one with highly delocalized quasiparticle excitations at higher fields. The two associated length scales are naturally explained as multiband superconductivity,...
متن کاملTheory of multiband superconductivity in spin-density-wave metals.
We study the emergence of multiband superconductivity with s- and d-wave symmetry on the background of a spin density wave (SDW). We show that the SDW coherence factors renormalize the momentum dependence of the superconducting (SC) gap, yielding a SC state with an unconventional s-wave symmetry. Interband Cooper pair scattering stabilizes superconductivity in both symmetries. With increasing S...
